Out On A Limb, a home-based company owned by Lori and Tim Jordan, in Lamoine, Maine offers 42 fruit-based products created by Tim that are either low sugar or have no sugar added. The original idea came about because of diabetics in the family who were unable to eat the mass-produced versions of jams / jellies / syrups on the market. Voilá, Out On A Limb was born.
Lori and Tim have been creating their special products in their Lamoine kitchen for 21 years. They do all the jarring, labeling and production in their home.
This success story is a family affair for the Jordans. Tim credits his sons Jake and Lukas with the name of the company as well as the recipes for the Fruits of Maine spread, and the Taste of Maine Spread. One day the kids asked Lori, “Where does the fruit come from?” When she answered, “From out on the limb” the company name was born.
Family is important to the Jordans, so they try to produce three products each day on a 14-day cycle, and cook and jar about four hours a day, five days a week. The kids have their parents on the weekends.
Their biggest sellers are the blueberry products, quite possibly because their home state is known for its luscious, world’s best and most flavorful blueberries. But according to their customer base, all of the products produced are absolutely top-notch and wonderful!
